Camping Activities

(1) Tetrapod

The Tetrapod imprints are thought to date from Devonian times – somewhere between 350 and 370 million years ago. This site is of international significance as it represents the transition of life from water to land – a momentous turning point in evolution and provides the oldest reliably dated evidence of four legged vertebrates (amphibians) moving over land

(2) Geokaun Mountain & Fogher Cliffs

Walk or drive to the top of Geokaun Mountain & Fogher Cliffs. It is a mountain park accessible and it is the highest point of Valentia Island!

See spectacular 360 degree views, including The Skelligs, Dingle & The Blaskets the mountains of Kerry, Portmagee , Fogher Cliffs, Valentia Island,  and the Atlantic and extends westward as far as the eye can see.

(3) Valentia Island Sea Sports

Valentia Island Sea Sports is situated on the sea front in Knightstown, Valentia Island.  Easily accessible by Car Ferry from the mainland, just two miles from Cahirsiveen, or by bridge via Portmagee, we offer a wide range of camps for all age groups from 4 years to teens, and Sailing Courses for both Children and Adults.

We are also open to the public to rent kayaks, or have a bounce on our 25ft Water Trampoline.  All activities, including public hours are fully supervised.  Wet suits are available for hire, and Buoyancy aids are provided for all camps and courses and public hours.

Open Daily for the months of July and August.

(4) Kerry Aqua Terra

Kerry Aqua Terra’s adventure and education based excursions offer sea and land adventures from March / April through to October, to both individuals and groups. We offer competitive prices with a strong emphasis on excellent service and experience during our tours.

(5) The Skellig Experience Visitor Centre

In THE SKELLIG EXPERIENCE VISITOR CENTRE you can experience many aspects of those offshore Skellig islands while remaining on the dry land, in a custom built, stone clad, grass roofed, prize winning building located right on the waterfront beside the Valentia Island bridge at Valentia, County Kerry!

(6) Glanleam Gardens

Glanleam enchanted garden, subtropical paradise, rainforest and jungle all at the same time. Glanleam is famous for southern hemisphere and Asian plants, which thrive in the mild climate of Valentia Island.

There are a number of trails on the grounds, plenty for children to explore as well as lambs, chickens, geese and ducks.
